How's my life doing...

Ups and downs, success and failures, uncertainty and certainty, dreams, goals, questions, answers, heart, mind and soul .... journey...... LIFE.... What else?

Another chapter will end, flipping another page... continue, cycle, memories, good and bad, faces, laughter, tears, rain, forever (is there such a word?) ... YES. What else?

Voice, sound, harmony ... Music, soft and loud, thinking, ponder, lefts and rights, people, person, he, she, him, her, me and her... back and forth... morning, evening, dusk, dawn.... EVERYTHING.

Full, hungry, happy, sad, plans, decisions, moving forward, what, when, where, who? DIRECTION, SATISFACTION, CONTENTMENT?

This is the meaning of my life... 31 years and counting. I'm living it, fighting, never backed down. I will continue my journey... T'll the end.

A New Beginning...

6 years, 2 months and 2 weeks...

Spent those days working, working in my hometown. Never thought that one day, I will start back at one again... New life, new environment, new work, new routines, new responsibilities... this time, it's for real, big time, solo life... away from home and love ones...

I'm having a hard time absorbing, adjusting to this new something in my life... looking for things that can help me understand these new things around me... I know someday, one day, everything will fall into places...

God will never leave me...

“Paskong Pinoy”

As the song goes … “Ang totoong paskong pinoy ay hindi puti, ang totoong paskong pinoy ay kayumanggi…”

Hello fellow Rotarians, its just like last week when I assembled and disassembled my Christmas tree, the next thing I know I’m assembling it again. Time really runs fast and we are again celebrating the best season of the year: “Christmas”. As Filipinos how do we celebrate Christmas?

There was these 10 years of my life wherein I was celebrating my Christmas alone. Though it was lonely but being a Filipino really makes a difference: the culture. Christmas for us is the time where families bond together; relatives abroad are coming home to celebrate the season.

It can never be denied that “lechon” is the best food Filipinos have during Christmas. Oh, we shouldn’t forget the “Simbang Gabi” or our lolo’s and lola’s will not give us presents. The variety of delicacies lined up outside the church ranging from “Palitaw”, “biko”, “bibingka” and many more.

The never ending party and exchanging gifts, elementary and high school reunions, family reunions to name a few. The children’s voices carolling at night with an ending lines: “Maayong pasko…” and “Thank you… Thank you…” and of course the famous “bersing bersing” line of the song “Joy to the world…” The “Judas belt”, “super lolo”, “bawang”, “kwitis” and “triangles” that gave lights and sounds during Christmas nights. Ninong’s and ninang’s are busy preparing gifts for their “inaanak” (I wonder how many are mine). These are just some of the best thing that “paskong pinoy” has to offer.

Being a Rotarian doesn’t limit us from these wonderful things. We Rotarians may not be aware with the fact that we are celebrating Christmas in our hearts everyday. The projects that we have, the smile that we put in every child’s faces, the food that we provide, the clothes, the medical missions, and the service to our community. For me, this is Christmas in my heart everyday.

“Paskong pinoy” is about giving, loving and sharing. The Rotary is just the same as “Paskong Pinoy”. I have a happy heart; I have a Christmas heart. I am a Rotarian, I’m proud and celebrating it.

“Philippines: Automated Election in 2010”

My questions are: Is the Country ready? Are the citizens ready? Are we ready?

These are just few of the many questions I have in my mind when this move of our government started. Personally, I am in favor of this undertaking. I am in favor not just because I am an IT professional; I am in favor because I want change. Change in the system, change in the culture; change in the way Filipinos chose their leaders, and change for my country. I voted ones, I have witnessed how unsystematic our electoral process, I have witnessed how hard for my fellow Filipinos to cast their votes. It took a lot of days to count the votes; it took a lot of weeks to declare who wins.

I can say, we filipinos never learn. We are all hounded by these nightmares for decades or even centuries and yet we never learn. A lot of us still question the credibility, assurance, reliability and integrity of this plan. My question to those who are uncertain: When are we going to do this?

The thing is we will never know the answers of our questions until we do it. There are no perfect things in this world. Yes there are possibilities of failure, but do we really need to live with this notion? It’s just a matter of believing that WE Filipinos can do it. Personally, the percentage of success in automation is small; this applies to any automation I have encountered as an IT professional. We can never know the solution until we encounter the problem. But if we really want change, we only have to believe that we can do it.

If they (other countries) can do it, why can’t we? The hardest part is only at the beginning. We might encounter problems next year, but I’m sure we can solve everything the next more years. I still have little confidence in our government. I believe that we Filipinos can do this. Let’s just believe and commit to the CHANGE we long dreamed of having. Let’s do this.
